A vigil was recently held in Windsor, Ontario, to honor Shilan Shahbazian, a 26-year-old Iranian woman who has gone missing. Shahbazian, who fled Iran to escape persecution, had been last seen a few days prior in Windsor’s west end. The community came together to draw attention to her disappearance and highlight the broader struggles faced by those fleeing oppressive regimes.
This vigil reflects growing concerns about safety and advocacy for Iranian women, particularly in the wake of increased global attention to the treatment of women and political dissidents in Iran. Similar events have been organized across Canada to support human rights and amplify voices calling for justice and freedom from systemic violence
